The Air Force Aid Society launches a free, financial budgeting app to help U.S. Airmen and their families better manage and track their money

Washington, DC—The Air Force Aid Society (AFAS), the official charity of the U.S. Air Force, today announced the launch of the AFAS Budget Builder App. AFAS launches the app in conjunction with Military Saves Week, February 26 – March 3. Military Saves Week is an annual opportunity created to promote good savings behavior and a chance for service members and their families to assess their own saving status.

“I am very excited we have been able to offer the AFAS Budget Builder App to Airmen” says Lt. General John D. Hopper, CEO of The Air Force Aid Society. “The idea grew from our old paper ‘check register’ that eventually evolved into a ‘debit card register.’  For years, this little handout was a key part of how Airmen and Family Readiness Centers helped Airmen with financial planning.  This app continues that evolution and serves as the next big step in helping Airmen keep their financial houses in order.”

Available for download through iTunes App Store and Google Play, the free AFAS Budget Builder App will help Airmen and their families track expenditures on a monthly basis so users can see how expenses align with budget plans and savings goals. More details about the app and to download the user guide, visit afas.org/budgetapp.

App Features

  • A dashboard provides a snapshot of spending health—automatically tracking total spending and total amount left over.
  • Customizable reports show expenditures for the last seven days, last month, and year-to-date.
  • Spending limits can be set for the exact categories where you spend money.
  • Note transactions as needs vs. wants
  • Because the app is mobile, users can add transactions anytime and anywhere
