2013 Air Force Charity Ball
The tenth annual Air Force Charity Ball benefiting the Air Force Aid Society was held on Saturday, 6 April and it truly was a night to remember! Thanks to the many generous corporations, organizations and individuals, the Ball raised over $700,000 to help Airmen, shattering the previous donation record by over $30,000! Our sincere gratitude to the members of the Air Force Charity Ball Committee who worked tirelessly throughout the year to ensure the Ball would be a success. A special “shout out” to Chair Debbie Mueller and Co-Chair Holly Jones for their leadership of this amazing all-volunteer team from the Air Force Officers’ Wives’ Club of Washington, D.C.
We also send a big thank you to the speakers at this year’s Ball -- local TV meteorologist Doug Hill who graciously served as MC for the third year in a row; Air Force leaders – Secretary Michael Donley, General Larry Spencer and CMSAF James Cody; AFAS Board President Dr. Mick McKeown and CEO Lt Gen (Ret) John Hopper; and our testimonial speaker SSgt Arrin Tune from Minot AFB who shared her heartfelt story of how AFAS helped her pick up the pieces after her home was severely damaged by the flooding of the Souris River in 2011.
For over 70 years, AFAS has been here in times of need for Airmen like SSgt Tune and the thousands of other Airmen we help each year. Thank you for helping us to carry on Gen and Mrs. Arnold’s vision of a relief society built on the principles of Airmen helping Airmen.
Don’t forget to save the date April 5, 2014 and join us for the 2014 Air Force Charity Ball!
