Baby Olivia

The Augugliaro Family
space

Meet baby Olivia! Born at just 28 weeks and under 2 lbs, Olivia is doing great and will soon be able to go home. AFAS helped Olivia’s dad, an Air Force Reserve SSgt activated on Title 10 orders, to make the long trips to the hospital to be with Olivia upon her birth and weeks in NICU. Our base representative, Angela Sanclemente summed it up nicely when she said "Cases like this make it all worth it!" We are so glad we could help.

The Air Force Aid Society is there when you need us.  Meet the Augugliaro Family. The Augugliaro's 3 year old daughter, Anolani is medically fragile and requires around the clock care 24 hours/day, 7 days a week. Although the Air Force is currently assisting the family with respite care it came to the attention of Air Force Aid Society that we could help the family with additional respite care on the weekends after Mrs. Augugliaro undergoes surgery. We thank the Augugliaro’s for sharing their story and encourage others to always come to Air Force Aid when you need help!

Wounded Warrior Assistance

Air Force Aid Society Headquarters caseworker Scott Hald was inspired to reach out to retired SSgt Daniel Meyer after reading an article featuring him in the Washington Post.  SSgt Meyer suffered debilitating injuries as a result of his service in Iraq and Afghanistan and is largely confined to his home.  He has discovered a love of playing golf on a simulator and Scott believed we could help him finish raising the money to have one installed in his home.  Scott contacted SSgt Meyer and was able to coordinate with Foresight Sports to finish paying for the simulator and installation.  The Air Force Aid Society is honored to be able to contribute to this project on behalf of SSgt Meyer.  Following are links to the Washington Post article and Daniel Meyer’s blog.

Columbus AFB -- First Base to Exceed AFAF Goal!

Congratulations to Columbus AFB for being the first base to exceed their AFAF dollar goal -- 130% of goal to be exact!  We hope this is just one of many bases that will exceed their goals.  We can't wait to see which base will be the first to exceed their dollar goal AND achieve 50% or better Active Duty participation!
